This year occurred the 70th Cannes Film Festival<\/strong><\/em> and like other Cannes Festival was a glorious event with many superstars around the world.\u00a0Cannes Film Festival occurred from the 17h to 28th May and was a year of many achievements to the cinema. The Cannes Festival is the most important and prestigious publicized events in the whole world. Since 2007, Thierry Fr\u00e9maux has been the general delegate of the event.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Cannes Festival poster features acclaimed Italian actress, Claudia Cardinale, who said \u201cI am honored and proud to be flying the flag for the 70th Festival de Cannes, and delighted with this choice of photo. It\u2019s the image I myself have of the Festival, of an event that illuminates everything around \u2026 Happy anniversary!\u201d<\/p>\n

BEST SCREENPLAY PRIZE (TIE)<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a tie for the award of Best Screenplay Prize. Marisa Paredes and Park Chan-Wook presented the Best Screenplay Prize to Lynne Ramsay for the thriller,\u00a0\u201cYou Were Never Really Here\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0Yorgos Lanthimos and Efhimis Filippou also won the prize for the psychological thriller\/horror film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, also starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman.<\/p>\n

Famed director, Sofia Coppola was distinguished at the ceremony with the Best Director Prize, for her brilliant feature, The Beguiled, a production adapted from the novel by Thomas P. Cullinan, and starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning. Coppola made the following statement after her win \u2013 \u201cI like to thank my father, who taught me to write and how to be a film director, and my mother, for teaching me how to be an artist. Thanks as well to Jane Campion, for being a role model and inspiring women to be directors.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

BEST ACTRESS PRIZE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Actress Prize went to German-American actress, Diane Kruger for her sensational performance as a woman whose life collapses after her husband and son die in a bomb attack. Aus dem Nichts (In the Fade) was directed by Faith Akin.<\/p>\n

BEST SHORT FILM \u2013 PALME D\u2019OR<\/strong><\/p>\n

This prize awarded by Uma Thurman and Cristian Mungiu to Qiu Yang, director of Xiao Cheng Er Yue (A Gentle Night), a short of a film about a mother who tries to find her daughter in a small city in China.<\/p>\n

CAMERA D\u2019OR<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andrey Zvyagintsev won the Jury Prize for his phenomenal film, Nelyubov (Lovely), a powerful story of a divorced couple whose son disappears in the midst of one of their intense arguments.<\/p>\n

Jessica Chastain awarded Joaquin Phoenix with the Best Actor Prize for its stunning and emotive performance in \u201cYou Were Never Really Here\u201d<\/em>, a feature directed by Lynne Ramsay. Phoenix portrayed a war veteran who tries to save a young girl from the sex trafficking ring.<\/p>\n

GRAND PRIX<\/strong><\/p>\n
