The extraordinary architect, Peter Zumthor<\/strong><\/em>, was the winner of the German Architecture Prize this year. Peter Zumthor was born in Basel, Switzerland. In 1966, Peter Zumthor studied industrial design and architecture as an exchange student at Pratt Institute in New York and in 1979 he founded his own company.<\/p>\n

The Swiss architect already has won The Pritzker Architecture Prize, the Praemium Imperiale and the Royal Gold Medal. And this year Peter Zumthor career is, even more, recognized when the Association of German Architects attributes the prize because of his lifetime achievements.<\/p>\n

This prize is given out every three years, and this prize honors the exceptional work of incredible architects, and we can see that from other winners as G\u00fcnter Behnisch, Oswald Mathias Ungers, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.<\/p>\n

The BDA Prize jury loved Peter Zumthor\u2019s design method: \u201cHis consequent focus on light, material, and space and his great quality standards for details give his work a timeless relevance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zumthor\u2019s distinguished works include the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London, Bruder Klaus Kapelle in Mechernich-Wachendorf, Germany, the Kunsthaus Bregenz in Austria, Therme Vals in Switzerland, and the Kolumba art museum in Cologne, Germany.<\/p>\n
