This summit will be the perfect\u00a0occasion to be in touch with the finest Portuguese craftsmen<\/strong> and artisans<\/strong> who will showcase how they create amazing pieces of fashion<\/strong>, furniture<\/strong> and jewelry<\/strong>. Traditional arts such as leaf gilding, filigree, hand-painted tiles, tapestry and embroidery will all be part of it. Let the journey begin!<\/p>\n

Leaf gilding<\/strong>, used by the Covet Group\u2019s brands in several top-selling pieces, is a decorative technique<\/strong> that consists in applying gold leaf to solid surfaces such as wood, stone or metal. Filigree<\/strong>, a jewelry art form, is a very special technique to the city that is hosting the event. Gondomar,<\/strong> in Oporto<\/strong>, is known as the Filigree Capital of Europe so it\u2019s obvious that filigree will be one of the highlights. It consists in a delicate metalwork that simulates lace.<\/p>\n

Here comes a Portuguese all-time favorite. The hand-painted tiles<\/strong> remain one of the most recognized traditional arts in Portugal. It takes a lot of precision and delicacy to dominate this art. The \u201cazulejo<\/strong>\u201c, the Portuguese name, is present in some of Boca do Lobo<\/strong>\u2018s most famous pieces such as the Heritage sideboard (pictured above).<\/p>\n

Tapestry<\/strong> was also not forgotten. Inspired by Persian\u00a0carpets, the Arraiolos rugs<\/strong> are known on a worldwide scale and it\u2019s a big part of the Portuguese traditional arts. It originated in the small town of Arraiolos, in Alentejo, and the amazing patterns made of embroidered wool are just stunning.
