The Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit 2018<\/strong><\/em> happened last week in a distinctive scenario in Oporto<\/strong><\/em> and, thanks to you, it had a whole different meaning. Happiness is only real when shared and this event<\/strong><\/em>, organized by the Covet Group<\/strong><\/em>, is the proof that ideas still rule the world. Companies like Top\u00e1zio, Michelangelo Foundation, Vista Alegre or Boca do Lobo made it an even more immersive experience. During the two days of the Summit,\u00a0<\/strong>the guests were gifted with several live showcases<\/strong> of several traditional arts and crafts<\/strong> of Portugal<\/strong>, namely Filigree, Tilling, Arraiolos, Renda de Bilros, Goldening, Jewellery Craft, Upholstery and Wood Work! These showcases promoted a strong bonding between the audience<\/strong> and the artisans<\/strong> and the end result was amazing!<\/p>\n

Throughout the Summit\u2019s first panel, The Value Of Craftsmanship For The Luxury World<\/em>, we had a glimpse of the true power of craftsmanship<\/strong> in a world where everything is a copy of another copy. It had the contribution of Am\u00e2ndio Pereira<\/strong> (Covet Group), Nicole Segundo (Michelangelo Foundation<\/strong>), F\u00e1tima Santos (AORP<\/strong>), Lu\u00eds Onofre<\/strong> and Ant\u00f3nio Moura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The second panel, Design As A Driving Force For Local Craftsmanship<\/em>, focused on the evolution of design<\/strong> and interior design<\/strong>,\u00a0which started as an\u00a0architecture\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>branch, an industry that was always understood as the major art. Fernando Caetano (Open Media<\/strong>), Jo\u00e3o Branco and Luis Sanch\u00e9z (Storytailors<\/strong>), Toni Grilo (Top\u00e1zio<\/strong>), Alda Tom\u00e1s (Vista Alegre<\/strong>), Serena Confalonieri<\/strong> and Francesca Merciari<\/strong> were all part of the panel.<\/p>\n

Next, we had the third and last panel \u2013 Luxury Branding: A Behind The Scenes Story.\u00a0<\/em>What makes a luxury brand<\/strong>\u00a0or a luxury design and how do you create one? We had all the answers thanks to M\u00f3nica Seabra-Mendes (Universidade Cat\u00f3lica<\/strong>), Marco Costa (Boca do Lobo<\/strong>), Jorge Martins (RomBoats<\/strong>), Carlos Santos (Carlos Santos Shoes<\/strong>) and Carla Gra\u00e7a (Vista Alegre<\/strong>). The second edition of the event will take place in the wonderful city of Paris<\/strong>, in January of 2019! You know where you need to be!<\/p>\n
