This narrative, reconciling a futuristic utopia with new realities, will feed into the show\u2019s activities, encompassing all sectors of\u00a0<strong>interior decoration<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>design<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>arts and crafts<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>retail<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>decor<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>hospitality<\/strong>. Science fiction has entered a new era and adopted a new discourse. It is no longer modeled on the kind of journey through space and time at the mercy of mysterious aliens filmed by\u00a0<strong>Stanley Kubrick<\/strong>\u00a0in his cult movie\u00a0<strong>2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)<\/strong>. While James Cameron\u2019s latest epic\u00a0<strong>Avatar 2 (2022)<\/strong>\u00a0immerses us in a fantastical natural environment,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Cailley\u2019s Animal Kingdom (2023)<\/strong>\u00a0explores the idea of mutation in a world of half-human, half-animal hybrids, symbolising profound cultural and societal change, all enhanced by a poetic and emotional narrative. Such is the case with\u00a0<strong>Once Upon a Dream<\/strong>, a capsule room designed by\u00a0<strong>Mathieu Lehanneur<\/strong>\u00a0for the reopening of\u00a0<strong>H\u00f4tel de Marc<\/strong>. To encourage more\u00a0<strong>restorative sleep<\/strong>, the principle of this ideal room is based on\u00a0<strong>artificial and programmable management of natural day\/night cycles<\/strong>. Reflecting this quest for well-being at home, indeed in all the places we occupy in our everyday lives \u2013 the\u00a0<strong>office<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>hotel room<\/strong>, even the\u00a0<strong>spa<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Maison&amp;Objet launched its new\u00a0<strong>\u201dWell-Being &amp; Beauty\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0sector in September 2023, featuring a selection which reconciles feel-good rituals and soft technological innovations to create a cocoon-like feeling at home. Advances in digital technology, smartphones and tablets with ever more functions, 3D printing processes, the exponential growth of\u00a0<strong>AI (Artificial Intelligence)<\/strong>, and numerous connected and increasingly intuitive objects, are also supporting service design and mobility, reinforcing this quest for well-being. In the words of\u00a0<strong>Jean-Louis Frechin<\/strong>, director and founder of NoDesign.net, as well as an author, teacher at \u00c9cole Camondo in Paris, and specialist in digital design and innovation:\u00a0<em>\u201cWe are embarking on a fusion between our natural environment and technology. This new natural epoch, the Anthropocene, suffers from imbalances brought on by abuse of technology and reckless use of the planet\u2019s resources, something which must be readjusted. It is through physics, scientific phenomena and the right technologies that designers will be able to develop sustainable and balanced solutions.
