One of the designs that we found interesting was the Wave Cabinet, a creation of his series of functional sculptures, which embody his translation of craftsmanship and mastery of material into fine art.<\/p>\n

The Wave cabinet opens with true delicacy and beauty; each individual slat pulls along the following much like a paper fan. With multiple configurations which allow for various options of aperture, the artist has re-engineered the familiar process of opening and closing, into rotating and undulating adaptations. \"Furniture<\/p>\n

The \u2018Wave cabinet reinvents the paradigm of cabinet as a re-visualization of the domestic, quotidian objects that surround us. Like his previously surprising sculptural furniture, Sebastian invites us to break open the box as a literal metaphor for reminding the viewer to stop and look again. \"5\"<\/p>\n

The New York based artist explains: \u201cI am inviting people to look at one of the simplest forms of furniture design and to forget that we\u2019re talking about furniture, instead to see it as a way of breaking a box. I love the idea of creating beautiful furniture; nevertheless I am much more interested in using the medium as an excuse to trigger people\u2019s curiosity and create a connection with them\u201d. \"4\"<\/p>\n

Sebastian was born on 1977.\u00a0Chilean born, New York based artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz was raised in London, obtained a design degree in Santiago and a Master\u2019s in Fine Arts from New York University. \"6\"<\/p>\n

He has received international acclaim for his original and provocative works on a variety of areas and disciplines. Tackling everything from political artworks to giant public art projects, experimental furniture to product design and women\u2019s shoes to motorcycles. His work is always surprising and compelling, inviting the viewer to look again at realities that were often hidden in front of their own eyes. \"BASELWORLD<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
