Hotel G<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Singapore<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The hotel<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> responds to the streetscape by allowing the bar and restaurant to interact with the street<\/strong>. The large glass screens can open up to bring the bustling townscape into the restaurant, helping to draw and intrigue passing crowds and creating an easy-to-mingle environment<\/strong>. Ceilings are exposed and raw. All areas allow activities \u2013 for dining or for hotel residents to plug in and work on the long tables<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The guest room<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a> corridors provided a great opportunity to create a cityscape design<\/strong> that is unique<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span> to the hotel. Tailor-made furniture<\/strong> is used throughout the project.<\/p>\n

Sandcrawler<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Singapore<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"AEDAS<\/a><\/p>\n

AEDAS Singapore<\/em><\/span><\/strong> designed this office building<\/strong> known as the Sandcrawler, whose name was voted by Lucas animators who were about to move into the building.<\/p>\n

The plan of the nine-storey building is extended and bent V shape<\/strong> with the core close to the base of the V in response to the shape of the site and the desire to allow the landscape to flow under the building.<\/p>\n

The tapering wings are offices and are 19 metres at their extremities. On the fifth and sixth floors is a double-height space with a 100-seat cinema which is fronted by a giant shiny black version of Darth Vader\u2019s helmet<\/strong>. The top floor has the quality of a warehouse with a very high sloping ceiling festooned with pipes and the underside of an enigmatic staircase. The slope<\/strong> reflects the slope of the roof called for by the master planning shape rules governing the site.<\/p>\n

The general concept of this project was to update and transform the original timeless design<\/strong> into a design and\u00a0property that would position the premises against\u00a0the new competitors<\/strong> in the market.<\/p>\n

Their focus was to maintain the original design and materials<\/strong> as much as possible whilst adding layers and textures through the addition of new and contemporary furniture pieces<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span>. Importantly their approach was to enhance the original timeless design that had been created in the first instance, ensuring that the property retains its original identity<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span> whilst giving it a new life for today and into the future.<\/p>\n
