To pursue her professional artistic interests, she studied\u00a0<em><strong>interior design at Ryerson\u2019s School of Interior Design<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0that has been named one of the top three schools of its kind. As former\u00a0<em><strong>Creative Director<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em><strong>President<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>of the Toronto-based design firm\u00a0<strong><em>MasamoDesign, Inc<\/em>.<\/strong>, Mahsa\u2019s depth of knowledge and expertise in the process of design extends beyond the\u00a0<em><strong>aesthetics of a space<\/strong><\/em>. She believes\u00a0<strong>authentic design is personal and organic<\/strong>\u00a0and yet seemingly effortless. It exudes\u00a0<strong>charisma<\/strong>\u00a0in its presentation. She loves the way interior design engages skills of\u00a0<strong>practical knowledge<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>creative inspiration and empathic listening<\/strong>\u00a0all at once. She relies on face-to-face meetings with clients, that is how she usually received a lot of feedback. With video conferencing, all the nuance is lost, as she explained, as well as the subtle visual and tactile qualities of materials.\u00a0 <strong>\u201cMy clients and I had to learn quickly how to best exploit technology to communicate easily and smoothly. This goes along with having clients who are enthusiastic about taking risks to explore new design ideas and materials.\u00a0 And I imagine all this taking place in a workspace I\u2019ve designed; an environment that inspires us and our clients alike.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Mahsa Momena<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">PROJECTS<\/h3>\n<p>Professionally, Mahsa enjoys feeling the respect and acknowledgment of her peers. And the knowledge that so many clients are happy in their spaces of living that she has designed for them. <strong>\u201cThat\u2019s probably my primary definition of success, not least because I receive nearly most of my new projects through referrals from previous clients. I feel good that I can understand and communicate with clients equally well about the practical aspects and emotional desires they have.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 said the designer. When it comes to communicating with her audience, Mahsa confessed she is not one of those people who are obsessed with publicity. Still, she knows the world needs to be aware of who you are and what you\u2019ve accomplished. As she works a lot with<strong>\u00a0black and white compositions<\/strong>. The designer feels that there is so much within and between these two colours:<strong>\u00a0hard and soft<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0contemporary and ancient<\/strong>, but yet\u00a0<strong>always timeless<\/strong>. Also, there\u2019s the sustainability of materials which contributes to our overall health and well-being. The creative potential of these is very exciting.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 she said. Currently, she is working on high-end residential projects, and the owners come from all walks of life with amazing stories to tell. This helps her craft designs specific to their lives. However, as she explained, the jury is still out on whether computers are really \u201cleaders\u201d in craftsmanship. In the designer\u2019s opinion, it is very important to understand tha<strong>t there is really no substitute for hand-crafted materials and methods of creation<\/strong>. The trick is to understand where each method can contribute the most to a project.\u00a0 For the future of design,\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Mahsa Momena<\/strong>\u00a0doesn\u2019t have a doubt that it would be all about\u00a0<strong>sustainability<\/strong>. Either on materials and construction methods. <strong>\u201cIt is going to be even more important, affecting every type of our design from vacation homes to skyscrapers. Alongside that, we will be more focused on creating healthy spaces, both for our physical and our mental well-being.
