Commune has worked with numerous artists, artisans, and craftsmen due to the value that they have for the strength of the collective mind which is also why they stand for the community of like-minded architects, interior designers, and others led by the principals Roman Alonso and Steven Johanknecht that met while working at Barneys New York where each occupied the role of Director of Corporate PR and Vice President of Display and Store Design respectively.

Their work has already been awarded the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award for Interior Design and included in the AD 100 and Elle Décor A-List. Their clients include Ace Hotels, Gap, Google, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and other amazing names from the industry.

Berkeley Craftsman by Commune Design

Commune also launched a book called “Design Commune” that features their work from private and commercial spaces, artist collaborations, product designs, packaging, and graphics.
