A “Magical Experience” This Christimas: Claridge’s Hotel
Claridge’s hotel promise to everyone a “magical experience” this Christmas, and for that, Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson gather their forces and installed an immersive Christmas tree that has been unveiled in London!

Alongside with the designer Michael Howells, the duo has produced a magical a fantastic live experience at the lobby of the Claridge’s hotel in Mayfair.

In the entrance of the hotel has been lined with four-meter-high light boxes glowing with black and white photographs of snow-covered silver birch trees. There are real silver birch trees placed in front of the backdrop in small mounds of artificial snow, while larger green pine trees stand in the foreground.

Symbolizing the future, the designers placed a young, meter-high tree standing in one corner. Giving some color to this winter scene, lights with different colors has been installed. They change the colors throughout the day, transforming it from sunrise to night time.

“There are few things more pure and beautiful than nature, so that was our starting point, layering various iterations of organic forms with technology,” said the designers. “Our aim was to create an all-enveloping magical experience that celebrates our enormous respect for tradition while recognizing our excitement about the future and things to come.”

Claridge describes the hotel’s Christmas Tree as a “seasonal landmark” that each year is imagined by an another designer. Since 2009, the tradition has been going and has made part of it designers as Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, Dolce & Gabbana, and John Galliano each bring a festive addition to the hotel’s lobby.
