AEDAS Singapore – creative thinking
AEDAS Singapore is the world’s only local and global architecture and design practise driven by global sharing of research, local knowledge and international practice. They believe that a diverse world is a more interesting world.
AEDAS Singapore brings together expertise from across the world. Each project includes designers that understand and respect the social and cultural needs of the local community they are designing for.
Above everything, they place creativity and creative thinking. They provide an inspiring environment to their most talented designers to deliver solutions that create a positive impact in the communities they are intended for. They never stop pushing boundaries, implementing the latest innovation and technical expertise in every new project they undertake – wherever they work in the world.
Hotel G
Singapore
The hotel responds to the streetscape by allowing the bar and restaurant to interact with the street. The large glass screens can open up to bring the bustling townscape into the restaurant, helping to draw and intrigue passing crowds and creating an easy-to-mingle environment. Ceilings are exposed and raw. All areas allow activities – for dining or for hotel residents to plug in and work on the long tables.
The guest room corridors provided a great opportunity to create a cityscape design that is unique to the hotel. Tailor-made furniture is used throughout the project.
Sandcrawler
Singapore
AEDAS Singapore designed this office building known as the Sandcrawler, whose name was voted by Lucas animators who were about to move into the building.
The plan of the nine-storey building is extended and bent V shape with the core close to the base of the V in response to the shape of the site and the desire to allow the landscape to flow under the building.
The tapering wings are offices and are 19 metres at their extremities. On the fifth and sixth floors is a double-height space with a 100-seat cinema which is fronted by a giant shiny black version of Darth Vader’s helmet. The top floor has the quality of a warehouse with a very high sloping ceiling festooned with pipes and the underside of an enigmatic staircase. The slope reflects the slope of the roof called for by the master planning shape rules governing the site.
Millennium Seoul Hilton
Korea
The general concept of this project was to update and transform the original timeless design into a design and property that would position the premises against the new competitors in the market.
Their focus was to maintain the original design and materials as much as possible whilst adding layers and textures through the addition of new and contemporary furniture pieces. Importantly their approach was to enhance the original timeless design that had been created in the first instance, ensuring that the property retains its original identity whilst giving it a new life for today and into the future.
