Choosing bedroom furniture
Soft, welcoming, relaxing colors
There’s no denying that a calming atmosphere is naturally achieved by calming colors. Muted shades like cream, beige, peach, terra cotta, light browns – anything reminding of earth or the human body – alongside pastel tones (light greens or blues) should be given a preference when choosing bedroom furniture. We’re focusing on the “yin” here, as opposed to stimulating “yang”. You can however add some accents of romance colors like red and pink if you’re also looking to keep a love flow around!
Curves and soft lines
Avoid hard lines, harsh corners and strict geometry in your bedroom furniture. Let a calm energy flow through softer, rounder shapes. However, do not overlook symmetry to keep the harmony present!
Placing bedroom furniture
Bed placement
As the key furniture piece in a bedroom design, the place you put your bed requires special attention. Feng Shui principles recommend to place it so you can see the room’s door while being as far as possible from it. This guarantees both a feeling of safety and tranquility. However, be careful not to have your feet oriented towards the door while laying on the bed, unless you have a footboard – this refers to the position of a dead body in Chinese culture.
Also, pay attention to space around your bed: leave enough room to move around it with ease and ceate symmetry by putting bedside tables on both sides, even if you’re sleeping alone.
Placing artworks
Feng Shui also thinks of how your room’s energy interacts with yours: the first and last things you see in your day are very important. Therefore, place a piece of art you love just opposite your bed!
Lighting
Lighting is a critical element in interior design, and even more so in bedroom design. To avoid discomfort, have several lighting sources around the bedroom, of various types – suspension, floor, table, wall… This will balance the direction of light, and, in our opinion, is a fantastic idea because it allows you to have plenty of wonderful lighting design pieces around you!
We hope these interior tips for your bedroom will help you get the atmosphere you dream of. Even if you don’t believe in Feng Shui and its ideas on energy flows, why don’t you just try rearranging your bedroom design with these easy principles and see for yourself?
