Laurence Graff, the renowned English jeweler and founder of Graff Diamonds, made history with his last diamond design: The Graff Venus, an incredible 118.78-carat D flawless heart-shaped diamond.

The precious stone was found in the Letseng Mine in Lesotho, the birthplace of many of the most remarkable gems. Half of the world’s largest and most exceptional diamonds found in the past century have been refined by the english jewellery house.

The Graff Venus , which name is inspired by the Roman goddess of Love, was conceived after 18 months of intense work to ensure its colourness, lack of fluorescence, immaculate symmetry and excellent polish. Attributes that guarantee a Type IIa classification, attributed to only the top one to two per cent of diamonds in the world.

As any other diamond of the luxury jewelry company, perfection was prioritised over size but that didn’t imped the Venus of becoming the world’s largest flawless heart-shape diamond with 118.78 carats of weight. The extraordinary size of the stone made even necessary the development of special tools and new technologies to carry out the working process of the diamond.

A true work of art that makes of this precious stone unique for its beauty and quality. “Sometimes there are stones that are so special we actually don’t want to sell them straightaway,” said Mr. Laurence. “This is one of them.”

Even though big hearts are priceless, this one will probably have a price and most certainly a very high one.
