Some design destinations simply offer beautiful objects, while others create an entire world around them. Founded in San Francisco in 2004, Lumens has grown into one of North America’s leading destinations for modern lighting, furniture, and home decor. Its carefully curated collection brings together established European names, contemporary designers, and emerging creative voices, creating a space where discovering a new piece can be just as inspiring as finding exactly what you were looking for.

Lighting has always been central to the Lumens story. From sculptural chandeliers and architectural pendants to discreet wall lights and atmospheric table lamps, its collection demonstrates just how dramatically illumination can influence the character of an interior. Lumens also looks beyond lighting, bringing furniture, accessories, outdoor pieces, and other design essentials into the same conversation. The result is a collection that encourages people to think about their homes as complete environments rather than a series of individual purchases.

The company’s extensive catalogue brings together an impressive range of international design. Names such as FLOS, B&B Italia, Louis Poulsen, Audo Copenhagen, Kartell, Moooi, and Herman Miller sit alongside smaller and emerging brands, creating an eclectic mix of established classics and contemporary ideas. This variety gives Lumens a sense of discovery, allowing timeless pieces to share space with designs that feel entirely new. For design enthusiasts, it becomes an ever changing source of inspiration.

Lumens also approaches design from an editorial perspective. Through The Edit, its online publication explores designers, brands, materials, iconic products, and the stories behind the objects that shape contemporary interiors. Interviews, design histories, guides, and curated selections provide context beyond the product itself, encouraging readers to understand where a piece comes from, why it matters, and how it can become part of a larger interior. Shopping consequently becomes a more informed and creative experience.

For professionals, Lumens extends this approach through its dedicated trade services. Architects, interior designers, contractors, and other industry professionals can access specialised support, trade pricing, product information, samples, finishes, customisation options, and made to order services. This professional focus reflects an understanding that creating a successful interior involves considerably more than choosing attractive products. Behind every finished space is a process of research, specification, coordination, and careful decision making.

Ultimately, Lumens is driven by a simple belief in the transformative power of good design. Its appeal comes from the extraordinary range of objects it brings together, but also from the stories, ideas, and people connected to them. Now part of the Flos B&B Italia Group, the company has become part of a wider international design landscape while continuing to champion modern pieces that bring personality and purpose into everyday environments. Lumens makes contemporary design feel exciting and approachable, offering a constantly evolving collection for anyone who believes that the objects around us can shape the way we experience a space.
