M3ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR TRIBULATION HOUSE
M3ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR TRIBULATION HOUSE – The tribulation house, designed by brisbane-based m3architecture, provides for a dynamic indoor/outdoor lifestyle within its lush vegetative site in the daintree rain forest in cape tribulation.

Given its ecologically sensitive sight, the project finds itself within a natural clearing in order to avoid unnecessary tree removal. The structure begins as a trail head that eventually forms an elevated path that unfolds into a series of canopies and interactive spaces.

Dark façade panels combined with exposed timber elements help the structure disappear into the constantly changing shadows of the forest. Angular roofs frame full height glass walls or recede from the building footprint to expose semi-exterior areas that bring outdoor living to the interior.

Throughout the front facade of the house, a thick white rope transforms from the handrail of the entry walkway to a playful interactive element draped along the edges of the roofs that serves as a functionally decorative piece.

The entire structure sits upon stilts elevated above the ground to minimize the direct impact on the topography using heavy timber and light-weight wood frames to compose the structure that is allowed to expand and contract with the humidity and varying weather conditions.
