Salone del Mobile 2023: The Best Of

Salone del Mobile 2023: The Best Of

Salone del Mobile 2023 is the real centerpiece of the Milan Design Week and blending visionary trends with inspiring exhibitors is just part of the magic. There’s so much going on from art installations to design talks or from product debuts to brand collaborations. Milan is still the quintessential place to be if you like to keep up to date with what’s new in the trailblazing design world – we will show you why!

Each year, the Salone del Mobile brings its “good looking” and “well made” products back onto an internationally important stage, whilst also being proof of how the evolution of the trade fair process can be accelerated. The event has always been a testament to an extraordinary curiosity, willingness and openness to discussion and to a tremendous ability to progress, innovating consolidated formulas. Over the last few difficult years, the Salone has initiated a concrete revision of its exhibition format, geared to continue to generate value for the entire design community.

Illulian – Hall 3 | Stand D18 D20

Moroso takes over the prestigious urban space of Spiga 26, the creative hub developed by Hines, the global real estate investment, development, and management company, in the heart of Milan’s fashion, design and lifestyle Quadrilateral to create an unusual and bold pop-up store: Diesel Living with Moroso reinterprets space with a design that mirrors the brand’s fearless, ironic and irreverent attitude. The new pop-up showroom is a bold, 360° representation of the Diesel style, summed up in the surreal and unexpected window takeover featuring the iconic Diesel Red. The pop-up will remain open for one month, from 18 April to 20 May to leave a lasting and concrete mark.

Chairs are the main attraction of Loewe’s latest exhibition, which is being held in the courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi as part of Salone del Mobile 2023. Following the commission given to Gaetano Pesce to create a temporary, site-specific artwork for the Summer 2023 Bottega Veneta fashion show, the dialogue continues, and a further stage is explored. Once again, given creative carte blanche, this time in the brand’s Montenapoleone store, Pesce creates a unique installation called ‘Vieni a Vedere’. Spanning the store, the immersive and cavernous installation utilizes resin and fabric to create a unique experience that the visitor travels through. It frames an edition of handbags realized by Bottega Veneta for the artist according to his designs.

Luxxu – Hall 3 | Stand G25 + Hall 9 | Stand 246

Initially a lighting brand, Luxxu has rapidly expanded its product range to include furniture and upholstery to create what is referred to as “The Luxxu dream.” Luxxu’s collection is designed to elevate any interior design to a new level, reflecting the desire for luxury and the finer things in life that come with owning a luxury home.

The brand has officially entered the wallpaper world, with an offering of “joy-inducing” patterns, available for bespoke projects upon request. For Milan Design Week, Celestino has taken over the headquarters of the Tennis Club Milano Bonacossa, a building designed by renowned Milanese architect Giovanni Muzio and constructed in 1930. Her installation, Clay Court Club, sees the building updated with furniture and fittings that feature playful references to tennis.

Roche Bobois – Hall 6 | Stand C24

In celebration of the brand’s sixtieth anniversary, Roche Bobois has decided to continue the dialogue with Joana Vasconcelos by asking her to design a line of seating and decorative accessories as the flagship collection of the year. Maintaining the point of view of an artist rather than a designer, she took on the challenge of designing pieces intended to interact with a wider audience. By transposing her themes and questioning to everyday objects, she offers her vision of the world adapted to the organization of living spaces.
