Armour Heights
The clients wanted a room just for adults. A cozy yet stylish place to work, have a drink with friends, play card games and watch TV – all without the kids interrupting them. The goal was to create a grown-up clubhouse. To complement the home’s transitional architecture, Laura Stein Interiors layered in contemporary furniture, a custom desk, and lots and lots of texture. One of Laura’s favorite tricks to create interest and warmth is adding contrasting wallpaper on the back panels of bookshelves, as the firm did here.
Uptown Living Room
Here, the clients’ taste was a little more traditional, so they asked Laura Stein Interiors to push them out of their usual box. They wanted a formal living and dining room that felt glamourous and edgy, but not masculine and cold. Laura and her team created a layered look, using striking furniture pieces and daring artwork in a warm and mellow palette. The result is bold and unexpected, but comfortable and soft. Clients loved the design, but due to unfortunate circumstances, Laura Stein Interiors was never able to produce this project.
Roncesvalles Ensuite
This third-floor bathroom was inspired by the tree-top views from the window, and the previous tenants – a family of raccoons who had taken up residence in this once derelict century home. The homeowners wanted the room to feel like a treehouse. The goal was to create a contemporary bathroom with luxurious materials that created a serene connection with nature. Once the raccoons were evicted, the space was gutted and rebuilt as the master suite. Laura Stein Interiors reconfigured the room with an eight-foot wall in the middle dividing the shower area from the sink, and used the angled ceilings to our advantage to incorporate extra storage behind the walls.
Roncesvalles Kitchen
When the owners purchased this home it was literally falling in on itself. It was over 100 years old and hadn’t been maintained. Laura Stein Interiors gutted it to the brick, rearranged the floor plan, removed some walls, and entirely redesigned and rebuilt it. But every home has a soul, so rather than ignoring this one they included some details that spoke to the original architecture. The result is a stunning, comfortable family home, centered around this striking kitchen.
Lytton Park Home
When Laura Stein Interiors first encountered this Lytton Park home it was a simple, empty shell. Bare drywall everywhere. They injected it with personality and turned it into a vibrant and elegant family home by layering architectural details, statement lighting, and a carefully curated selection of new, custom and antique furniture.
Forest Hill
This master bedroom is part of a 15,000 square foot new home Laura Stein Interiors is designing for a busy family of five. The house is currently under construction, but they created these drawings and renderings to show the client their design concept. We love it!
