Studio 6F: An unapologetic design approach
Studio 6F is a Chicago-based multi-faceted creative house focused on art and design. As an interior design firm Studio 6F works on both a residential and boutique hospitality level and is well suited for projects of any size and scope.
Today we are going to show you the best interior design projects of Studio 6F.
Studio 6F and principal designer Gil Melott have been recognized for an unapologetic approach to seamlessly blending disparate textures and periods into a well-curated story for homes and public spaces. Named Best New Design Gallery by Modern Luxury Magazine and featured in The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Chicago Magazine, AD Pro, Modern Luxury, Dwell, Traditional Home, and Luxe Interiors, Studio 6F has continued to grow and curate its presence in Chicago as well as across the country.
Gil Melott has served in c-level executive roles in both private and public companies. He’s worked as an art director for a global advertising agency and as an advisor for key product development and ideation companies. He has also started three creative lifestyle companies, filtered through the lens of art, music, and fashion. The 6F team is close-knit and focused on personalized attention and creative solutions tailored to each specific client’s wants and needs.
The firm finds it only fitting to start any project with a blank slate, an empty space, a ‘whiteboard’ devoid of preconceptions or expectations. Studio 6F offers solutions – not without ideas, mind you – just without opinions so heavy that they might cloud the creative solution; giving people aesthetic experiences that they can live with every day.
Gil Melott has always been a storyteller. With his latest venture, he is able to hone his ability by translating vivid references from his upbringing into approachable modern design.
The Founder and Principal Designer of Studio 6F launched Gill Melott | BESPOKE – a capsule collection of urban-centric furniture and lighting pieces. Using materials and ideas familiar to his youth – refined bronze and metal fabrication, solid woodworking and joinery, and fabrics that have a distinct heritage – elevated and translated into sophisticated and urbanely rustic pieces or bespoke furniture.
