Maria Elena Uzcátegui is the artist behind the elite world of UZCA, which is also a concept store incorporating treasures from across the globe, besides the interior design projects she creates in many different places. From a young age, the designer showed an eye for detail. As a child, she designed jewelry, eventually turning her hobby into a business as an adult.
Venezuelan native, Maria Elena Uzcátegui lived in Paris, London, Mexico and the United States, and has always had a passion for sophistication and design. She attended fashion design school in Boston and later studied gemology in New York.
Uzcátegui travels extensively on the hunt for exclusive pieces for her store. Florence, Italy is among one of her favorite spots to shop. Through those European inspirations, UZCA breathes in those incredible and varied trends that are displayed in every setting.
In one of these UZCA’s recent projects, there’s a great combination of modern with contemporary and a mid-century touch. She used bespoke pieces such as this Coltrane floor lamp by Delightfull. Handmade in brass and aluminum, the minimal black floor lamp has a matte black finish on the three lamp shades with a gold powder paint on the inside, that provide a smooth lighting effect. This functional floor lamp is ideal for minimalist settings, as well as for, mid-century modern reading nooks.
