Nowadays you also find butchers, florists, and the inevitable souvenir shops. You can also have lunch there and take advantage of the most authentic and historical market in Porto. It has beautiful Neo-classical style and it was built in 1850 but the most incredible thing is the possibility to meet the sellers who hold the true spirit of Porto’s locals.

Lonely Planet considered Lello Bookshop as the third most beautiful library in the world. Dating from 1906, the building has an Art Nouveau façade and Neo-gothic details. As you walk through the doors of this bookstore you’ll notice that there is a marvelous stairway and the wooden walls are also very exquisite. The stained glass ceiling also adds an amazing detail. You will see amazing similarities between Lello’s bookstore staircase and the one described in Hogwarts since this magic place has inspired J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter saga.
