Philippe Starck attended the opening of the exhibition at Centre Pompidou in Malaga on May the 10th, unveiling a large collection of his own drawings to the public. The French designer was closely involved in the project, which aim is to allow to go deeper in the understanding of the creative process of high-end design pieces and the work of a reknown designer.

Born in Paris in 1949, 68-year-old Philippe Starck is a true legend of design. He has been at the front of the design stage since his early career in the 80s and is still incredibly active in the industry. His name is without a doubt one of the most famous in the design community, and even outside it, and he is the father of iconic, affordable yet high-end design pieces such as the Louis Ghost chair or the Juicy Salif juicer.

The top designer has an impressively furnished and extensive resume, having worked on no less than 10,000 projects around all types of product design, interior design or architecture all over the world. His philosophy tackles the issue of purpose of the object, the combination of funtional and emotional, ecological concerns and the idea of “democratic design” that aims at making design affordable to a wider audience.

Defining himself as a “naive utopist”, Stack places himself as a pioneer all along his career and has earned profound respect from his peers and acknowledgement from the general public. This exhibition, featuring exclusive designs and actual pieces, is an exciting chance to get into the mind of one of the greatest creative minds of the past decades.

Centre Pompidou Malaga will be holding the exhibition for three more months. Don’t miss your chance to drop by if Spain is in your travel plans by then, and if not, we hope our insight could give you a glimpse of the event! Stay posted for more design news!
