It happened! We were telling you about it a few days ago, and the design event took place yesterday: it was an amazing night at Moongata Design Awards 2017 in Madrid! Brabbu was there as one of the partners of the event, and so were other personalities and talents from the Spanish design world. The goal of the awards were to celebrate the talent of young designers, and that’s exactly what it did! Discover the winners down below!

Everything was ready to welcome attendants of the design event. Besides Moongata reprensentatives, a team from Brabbu was there, as well as the other members of the jury: the director of Madrid’s prestigious design school IED, the director of the magazines Nuevo Estilo and Elle Decor Spain, the CEO of a top communication agency and, last but not least, Ini Archibong, one of the best designers, coming from California.

 

 

The Moongata Design Awards 2017 contest was open to current and former students of IED Madrid (Istituto Europeo di Design), the capital’s reknown school of design. A first selection of the best designs left ten finalists, and the final two winners were announced yesterday night.

 

 

Among all the top design pieces judged by the jury, Celia Terrón stood out as this year’s best designer and winner of the First Prize! She’s winning the exhibition and selling of her design in Moongata’s showroom, communication advice, visibility in the design community, and a 1,000€ cheque. Congratulations to this young talent!

 

 

Celia’s projects include this chair, which is a very impressive work on perspectives and space. She also introduces it as a reflection on the ideas of “chair” and “seat”, and how we define them: four legs, a back and a seat base, but then?

 

 

But she was not the only young talent awarded yesterday: there was a second prize, and it was won by Juan Fuentes. This young man created top design pieces as well, yet very different from Celia’s, like this innovative, ambitious vehicle below. Congratulations to him as well, who receives 500€ and an accreditive diploma. No doubt he’ll also enjoy visibility and admiration from the design community!

 

 

The Moongata Design Awards 2017 were a successful celebration of the talent of young designers. Moongata values the youth’s creativity and vision of the world and gave a chance to these students to confront their ideas to respected professionals. A beautiful project! It was a great night in Madrid – that happened at the same time as the opening night of another of the capital’s awesome design events, DecorAcción 2017. A memorable evening!
