Beautiful, comfortable rooms with playful, considered details draw your attention to the current moment and provide a stimulating backdrop to your everyday life. Beata Heuman enjoys playing with the tension between design that is poetic and unexpected, while also firmly rooted in practicality and purpose.
Beata Heuman and her team believe a home should be a reflection of its inhabitants: the places they have traveled to and the objects and ideas that inspire them. Throughout the design process, their approach remains personal, intuitive and considered.
Beata Heuman was born in Sweden and set up her London practice in 2013. The studio is known for its creative, original work characterized by a Scandinavian attention to detail and longevity. Her team takes a fully immersive approach to designing all aspects of interior architecture and loose furnishings and drawing inspiration from myriad sources both past and present. The studio works primarily on private houses in the UK, USA and Europe, and has a growing reputation for commercial projects including hotels and restaurants.
Beata launched her online shop, called Shoppa, in 2020. Shoppa sells a collection of fabrics, wallpapers, lighting, handles and furniture. The range is designed entirely by Beata and her team and is available exclusively from Shoppa.
Beata Heuman’s first book, Every Room Should Sing, was published by Rizzoli in 2021. The book is divided into 10 chapters, with each focusing on an element of Beata’s design philosophy and featuring one of the studio’s projects.
