Audax Architecture is an award-winning Toronto-based architecture, interior design, and construction firm with expertise in the luxury real estate market, and a strong focus on high-end residential design. Their clients include commercial and residential developers, celebrity chefs, restaurant and hospitality groups, and affluent homeowners. Audax provides its clients with a holistic approach to design, which incorporates both architecture and interiors.
Audax’s design approach incorporates the best elements of traditional architecture and marries them with a modern aesthetic. Human Architecture stems out of the belief that many of the best aspects of traditional architecture were lost during the modern period, and from the recognition that modern design is a popular aesthetic within our culture today. By looking at the past through the lens of Modernism, Audax is able to bring the tactile and human-scaled elements that were lost with Modernism, back into contemporary design.
Under the design leadership of Gianpiero Pugliese, Audax’s projects are diverse in design style. The firm’s work is motivated by Human Architecture, a design approach developed by the studio that combines the best elements of traditional architecture with a modern aesthetic. That’s why we let ourselves be inspired by an amazing dining room to create one with our own pieces!
The first piece that comes up to our minds to compose a refined dining room is the dining chairs! Collins Dining Chair, by Essential Home, is designed with a classic retro chic feel and comes finely upholstered in velvet, supported by tapered glossy black legs with rich accents of polished brass. It has welted stitches on the seat and a stylist degree reclining on the crescent open back. The backrest is convex, allowing comfortable seating, and perfect to pair with a rectangular dining table.
For this dining room, we suggest the Metamorphosis Dining Table, by Boca do Lobo, in order to strengthen this unique concept. This luxury dining table has come to symbolize the evolutionary history of life, representing the last stage of the cycle through the usage of sculpted fossils on display at the top of the table. It also represents the effort made by our designers to questioning the existence of things, by answering a simple question: “How can we define something as living?”. It’s an amazing choice for a dining room, don’t you agree?
According to Boca do Lobo’s quality signature, Metamorphosis Dining Table embodies handmade techniques such as wood carving, metal cutting, and hammering, and polishing, executed by some of the best craftsmen in the country. A unique product for those who have a peculiar taste for limited edition pieces and conceptual designs.
Galaxy Chandelier Round fell into the 21st century without a trace of regret from a different era, lightyears away. A lasting design has to have roots. The Galaxy is a constellation of energy, movement, and form, that’s why it has been chosen to be part of this dining room. Propelling away from the center of gravity towards clouds of stardust and outer planets. Avant-Garde by nature, the shapes, and forms of the Galaxy relate to each other as the planets towards the sun. The artist and the dreamer both know space is where an image grows.
There’s not too much lighting in a room, especially in a refined dining room like this one we’re creating. Let’s add some wall lamps to give an extra ambiance? Basie Wall Lamp is a modern representation of the sci-fi aesthetics of the 1960s. The vintage mid-century lamp has a set of distinctive features which make it a stunning statement piece. It is an indoor wall light handmade in brass, with a center shade made in aluminum and a mesmerizing gold-plated standard finish. The lampshade is lacquered in a glossy white for a more modern look. Being the sleek and sophisticated piece that it is, it works beautifully as a decorative wall light in any contemporary entryway or living room. Discover more about DelightFULL
As a result, Audax’s approach to design creates buildings and interior spaces, like this dining room we’re presenting here, that appeal to those who admire the warmth and detailing of traditional architecture but also appreciate modern design. As an ongoing exploration of the philosophical framework, Audax is leading The Human Architecture Project, which consists of formal case studies demonstrating the theory and exploring new ideas and designs that relate to city building.
