THE PROJECTS

Walsh Bay Penthouse

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

Winner of Room of the Year 2021 in House & Garden’s Top 50 Rooms awards, this two-story, three-bedroom apartment showcases the creative use of curves in a palette that merges soft pink and yellow with elegant white and grey. The new design and fit-out led by Greg Natale uses the interior architecture, furniture and accessories to form beautifully fluid lines, beginning with the living area, in the contours of the staircase, fireplace and the built-in low bench and cabinetry that wrap around the walls beneath. A selection of modern European furniture here and in the adjoining dining area echoes those lines, with brass accents bringing a warm gleam to the apartment’s soft tones.

The Beckley

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

This restaurant for the staff of retail brand Cotton On, located in the brand’s global headquarters in Geelong, is a sophisticated space created by Greg Natale Design in collaboration with PTID. A palette of blue, black and green forms a moody brasserie space, presided over by a blue-paneled acoustic ceiling, its squares dotted with elegant brass lights. Across black and white marble floors, blue leather chairs and banquettes gather around marble and timber tables. Timber-paneled partitions provide warm tones, with other beautiful finishes courtesy of green and blue glazed tiles around the bar and fluted glass panels.

Bondi Beach Apartment

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

This revamped three-bedroom 1970s apartment offers a glamorous take on beachside living in a palette of pale teal and burnt orange, inspired by the water and sand outside as well as a series of Art Deco buildings across the road. The renovation and redesign by Greg Natale involved removing internal walls to create an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area, where stucco ceilings and walls reflect the light and water to great effect. Perforated bulkheads hide utilities like support beams and air conditioning while also providing a decorative element, with the circle motif repeated in design details from joinery moldings to beautifully colored mosaic tiles in the bathrooms.

Darlinghurst Apartment

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

Perched high up in Sydney’s iconic Horizon building, designed in the ’80s by the late Australian architect Harry Seidler, Greg Natale’s own apartment is enjoying its third interior redesign. This latest incarnation has evolved around a sumptuous maroon palette that acts as a dramatic backdrop to a lovingly curated collection of art, vintage pieces, contemporary and custom-designed furniture and accessories. Maroon carpet and maroon-painted walls in the entrance and living area create a dramatic cocooning effect and moody disco vibe, enhanced by the gleam of mirrored and metal surfaces. A golden marble-like seam runs through the white wallpaper on the entrance ceiling and on the walls of the bedrooms and the kitchen, where brass cabinetry and a maroon stucco ceiling complete the effect.

Toorak Penthouse

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

The jewel-like tones of pink and maroon team with the gleam of brass and the dramatic lines of interior architecture to transform an open-plan, minimalist space into a grand, glamorous residence. Against light oak floors and fluted white lacquer paneling on the walls, plays on pink unfold throughout the three-bedroom penthouse apartment. Blush-painted ceilings create an intimate mood that continues with patterned wallpaper in the guest bedroom, and lacquered joinery and pink marble wallpaper in the dressing room. Pink Gucci Heron print wallpaper in the dining room offers a vivid display, while the hue is distilled in Calacatta Viola marble in the bathrooms, kitchen and fireplace. Maroon enriches the palette, appearing in lacquered joinery and fluting, and patterned wallpaper in the master bedroom and powder room.

Lurline Bay House

Greg Natale Design: Stunning, Sophisticated And Unforgettable Spaces

This four-story, four-bedroom oceanfront residence is a beach house like no other, and its sophisticated palette, materials and layout have been beautifully tailored to suit its surroundings. Collaborating with an architect to redesign the exterior, Greg Natale worked as interior designer and interior architect, taking the idea of a coastal pastel palette and giving it an opulent interpretation through high-end finishes and furnishings. The space is imbued with a serene lightness of look and softness of feel, its palette of grey, blush and teal subtly echoing the tones outside. Polished plaster ceilings suggest the fluidity of water with their high-gloss finish, while texture comes into play through furniture and wallpaper. A travertine staircase and wall are highlighted by brass railings, making it a striking central feature across the four-stories, with brass and gold trims continuing throughout the house.
